حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الْمِصْرِيَّانِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، وَأَبِي، سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " إِنَّ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ قَرَصَتْهُ نَمْلَةٌ فَأَمَرَ بِقَرْيَةِ النَّمْلِ فَأُحْرِقَتْ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَيْهِ فِي أَنْ قَرَصَتْكَ نَمْلَةٌ أَهْلَكْتَ أُمَّةً مِنَ الأُمَمِ تُسَبِّحُ " . حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ نَحْوَهُ وَقَالَ قَرَصَتْ .

Aḥmad ibn ʿAmr ibn al-Sarḥ and Aḥmad ibn ʿĪsā, both from Egypt, narrated to us; they said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us: Yūnus informed me, from Ibn Shihāb, from Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib and Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet of God (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: One of the prophets was bitten by an ant, so he ordered the ant colony to be burned. Then God, Mighty and Sublime, revealed to him: Because one ant bit you, you destroyed a community that glorifies God. [Another chain:] Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us: Abū Ṣāliḥ narrated to us: al-Layth told me, from Yūnus, from Ibn Shihāb, with the same chain and similar wording; he said “bit.”
