حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " مَا أَلْقَى الْبَحْرُ أَوْ جَزَرَ عَنْهُ فَكُلُوهُ وَمَا مَاتَ فِيهِ فَطَفَا فَلاَ تَأْكُلُوهُ " .

Aḥmad ibn ʿAbdah narrated to us: Yaḥyā ibn Sulaym al-Ṭāʾifī narrated to us: Ismāʿīl ibn Umayyah narrated to us, from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Eat what the sea casts up or what it leaves behind when the tide recedes. Do not eat what dies in it and floats on the surface.
