Sunan Ibn Majah 3222
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَزِّمِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فِي حَجَّةٍ أَوْ عُمْرَةٍ فَاسْتَقْبَلَنَا رِجْلٌ مِنْ جَرَادٍ أَوْ ضَرْبٌ مِنْ جَرَادٍ فَجَعَلْنَا نَضْرِبُهُنَّ بِأَسْوَاطِنَا وَنِعَالِنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " كُلُوهُ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ صَيْدِ الْبَحْرِ " .

ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad narrated to us: Wakīʿ narrated to us: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Abū al-Muhazzim, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: We went out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a pilgrimage or minor pilgrimage. We encountered a dense swarm of locusts—or a kind of locusts—and began striking them with our whips and sandals. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Eat them, for they are game from the sea.
