Sunan Ibn Majah 1176
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُطَّلِبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ سَأَلَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ أُوتِرُ قَالَ أَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ . قَالَ إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَقُولَ النَّاسُ الْبُتَيْرَاءُ فَقَالَ سُنَّةُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ . يُرِيدُ هَذِهِ سُنَّةُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ .
Abdur-Rahman bin Ibrahim Ad-Dimashqi narrated to us: Al-Walid bin Muslim narrated to us: Al-Awzai narrated to us: Al-Muttalib bin Abdullah narrated to us, who said: A man asked Ibn Umar: How should I pray Witr? He replied: Pray Witr as one rakah. The man said: I fear people will say that it is cut short. He said: The Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger. That is, this is the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ).
