Muhammad bin Bashshar narrated to us: Yahya bin Said Al-Qattan narrated to us: Yahya bin Said Al-Ansari narrated to me, from Al-Qasim bin Muhammad, from Salih bin Khawwat, from Sahl bin Abu Hathmah, who described the fear prayer: The imam stands facing the qiblah. One group stands with him, and another group faces the enemy, facing toward the row. He leads the first group in one rakah; they complete their bowing and two prostrations on their own where they are. Then they go to the position of the others, who come and join him. He leads them in one rakah and performs two prostrations with them. Thus he has prayed two rakahs, while they have prayed one. Then they perform one more rakah and two prostrations. Muhammad bin Bashshar said: I asked Yahya bin Said Al-Qattan about this hadith, and he narrated it to me from Shubah, from Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Qasim, from his father, from Salih bin Khawwat, from Sahl bin Abu Hathmah, from the Prophet (ﷺ), with a report like Yahya bin Said narration. Yahya said to me: Write it beside it; I do not have the hadith by heart, but it is like Yahya report.
