Translation

Abu Kurayb narrated to us; Abu Mu‘awiyah narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Amr ibn Murrah, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja‘d, from Shurahbil ibn al-Simt, that he said to Ka‘b: ‘O Ka‘b ibn Murrah, narrate to us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and be careful.’ He said: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah for rain.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands and said, ‘O Allah, send us wholesome, abundant, widespread rain, promptly and without delay, beneficial and not harmful.’ They had not yet gathered when they were answered. Then they came to him and complained to him about the rain, saying, ‘O Messenger of Allah, the houses have collapsed.’ He said, ‘O Allah, let it be around us and not upon us.’ Then the clouds began to part to the right and the left.
