Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ خَرَجَ عُمَرُ يَوْمَ عِيدٍ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ بِأَىِّ شَىْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَقْرَأُ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ؟ قَالَ بِـ {ق} وَاقْتَرَبَتْ .
Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us; Sufyan informed us, from Damrah ibn Sa‘id, from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah, who said: On Eid, Umar went out and sent word to Abu Waqid al-Laythi, asking, ‘What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recite on a day like this?’ He replied: ‘Qaf and the Hour has drawn near.’
