What was narrated concerning Taqlis on the day of ‘Eid Sunan Ibn Majah 1302
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ شَهِدَ عِيَاضٌ الأَشْعَرِيُّ عِيدًا بِالأَنْبَارِ فَقَالَمَالِي لاَ أَرَاكُمْ تُقَلِّسُونَ كَمَا كَانَ يُقَلَّسُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ .
Translation
It wasnarrated that ‘Amir said
“Iyad Al-Ash’ari was in Anbar at thetime of ‘Eid, and he said: ‘Why is it that I do not see youengaged inTaqlis* as was done in the presence of the Messenger ofAllah (ﷺ)?’”*Taqlis means to indulge in celebrations on a festive occasion.
