Sunan Ibn Majah 1329
Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; Abu Muawiyah narrated to us, from al-Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘At night, Satan ties three knots with a cord at the nape of the head of each of you. If he wakes and remembers Allah, one knot is undone. When he gets up and performs ablution, another knot is undone. When he gets up for prayer, all his knots are undone, and by morning he is energetic and good-spirited, having attained good. If he does not do that, he wakes up sluggish and ill-spirited, having attained no good.’
