Sunan Ibn Majah 1338

Al-Abbas ibn Uthman al-Dimashqi narrated to us; al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us; Hanzalah ibn Abi Sufyan narrated to us, saying that he heard Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit al-Jumahi narrate from ‘A’ishah, the Prophet’s wife, who said: One night in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I was delayed after the night prayer. Then I came, and he asked, ‘Where were you?’ I said, ‘I was listening to the recitation of one of your Companions. I have never heard anyone with a recitation or voice like his.’ She said: He stood, and I stood with him, until he listened to the man. Then he turned toward me and said, ‘This is Salim, the freedman of Abu Hudhayfah. Praise belongs to Allah, who has placed someone like this in my community.’
