حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ الْمَسْجِدَ فَسَمِعَ قِرَاءَةَ رَجُلٍ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ هَذَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقِيلَ هَذَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ لَقَدْ أُوتِيَ هَذَا مِنْ مَزَامِيرِ آلِ دَاوُدَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Translation

Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us; Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Amr informed us, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque and heard a man reciting. He asked, ‘Who is this?’ They said, ‘This is Abdullah ibn Qays.’ He said, ‘He has been given one of the beautiful voices like those given to the family of Dawud.’
