Shortening the Prayer while traveling Sunan Ibn Majah 1063
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عُمَرَ، قَالَصَلاَةُ السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَانِ وَالْجُمُعَةُ رَكْعَتَانِ وَالْعِيدُ رَكْعَتَانِ تَمَامٌ غَيْرُ قَصْرٍ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ .
Translation
It wasnarrated that ‘Umar said
“The prayer while traveling is twoRak’ah, and Friday is two Rak’ah, and ‘Eid is two Rak’ah.They arecomplete and are not shortened, as told by Muhammad (ﷺ).”
