Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ، وَجُبَارَةُ بْنُ الْمُغَلِّسِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الأَخْنَسِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: افْتَرَضَ اللَّهُ الصَّلاَةَ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكُمْ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فِي الْحَضَرِ أَرْبَعًا وَفِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ .
Translation
Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Abi al-Shawarib and Jubarah ibn al-Mughallis narrated to us; they said: Abu Awanah narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn al-Akhnas, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas, who said: Allah prescribed the prayer, through the words of your Prophet, as four rakahs while resident and two while traveling.
