Sunan Ibn Majah 1107

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ كَانَ إِذَا خَطَبَ فِي الْحَرْبِ، خَطَبَ عَلَى قَوْسٍ. وَإِذَا خَطَبَ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ، خَطَبَ عَلَى عَصًا .
Translation
Hisham ibn Ammar narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Sad ibn Ammar ibn Sad narrated to me: My father narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather: When the Messenger of Allah delivered a sermon during wartime, he did so holding a bow; when he delivered the Friday sermon, he did so holding a staff.
