It was narrated that Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah said: ‘Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from ‘Isa, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from ‘Ali, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘When one of you sneezes, let him say, “Praise be to Allah.” Those around him should reply, “May Allah have mercy on you.” Then he should reply to them, “May Allah guide you and set your affairs right.”’
