Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " مَا زَالَ جِبْرَائِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ " .

It was narrated that ‘Ali ibn Muhammad said: Waki‘ narrated to us; Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq narrated to us, from Mujahid, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Jibril kept urging me to care for the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir.’
