قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُصْعَبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزُّبَيْرِيِّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُذَافَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ نَهَى عَنِ النَّجْشِ .

I read to Musab ibn Abd Allah al-Zubayri, from Malik. (A second chain:) Abu Hudhafah narrated to us; Malik ibn Anas narrated to us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade najsh (bidding up a price deceptively).

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ نَهَى عَنِ النَّجْشِ .
Najsh is deceptive bidding intended to raise a price, without a genuine intention to buy.
