Ali ibn Muhammad and Sahl ibn Abi Sahl narrated to us. They said: Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us; al-Rabi ibn Habib informed us, from Nawfal ibn Abd al-Malik, from his father, from Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade bargaining before sunrise and slaughtering milk-bearing animals.

Al-sawm refers to offering or negotiating a price; dhawāt al-darr are animals that provide milk.
Does “bargaining” capture al-sawm, and does “milk-bearing animals” preserve the scope of dhawāt al-darr?
