Muhammad ibn Bashshar and Muhammad ibn al-Walid narrated to us. They said: Muhammad ibn Jafar narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Simak ibn Harb, who said: I heard Malik, Abu Safwan ibn Umayrah, say: “I sold a pair of trousers to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) before the Hijrah. He weighed out the payment for me and gave me a little extra.”

Rijl sarawil is rendered as a pair of trousers; the idiom describes the garment sold before the Hijrah.

Does “a pair of trousers” accurately convey rijl sarawil in this report?
