Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; 'Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Ya'qub ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj, from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf, from Sa'id ibn Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah, who said: Among our houses there was a physically impaired, weak man. Before anyone expected it, he was found with a household slave woman, acting indecently with her. Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah brought his case to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Give him one hundred lashes. They said: Prophet of Allah, he is too weak for that; if we strike him one hundred lashes, he will die. He said: Take a palm stalk bearing one hundred offshoots and strike him with it once.
Sufyan ibn Waki' narrated to us; al-Muharibi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Ya'qub ibn 'Abdullah, from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl, from Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with similar wording.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic says the man was “impaired/weak” and describes his conduct euphemistically as acting indecently; the witness specifies a physical defect and illegal sex. Both chains are present in Arabic and translated.
