The Legal Punishment for the Thief Sunan Ibn Majah 2586
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " تُقْطَعُ يَدُ السَّارِقِ فِي ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ "
Translation
It was narrated from Amir bin Sa'd, from this father, that the Prophet (ﷺ) said
“The hand of the thief is to be cut off for the price of a shield.
