Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَائِرًا فَرَأَى رَجُلًا شَعِثًا قد تفرق شعرُه فَقَالَ: «مَا كَانَ يَجِدُ هَذَا مَا يُسَكِّنُ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ؟» وَرَأى رجلا عَلَيْهِ ثيابٌ وسِخةٌ فَقَالَ: «مَا كَانَ يَجِدُ هَذَا مَا يَغْسِلُ بِهِ ثَوْبَهُ؟» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمد وَالنَّسَائِيّ
Translation
Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit us and saw a man with disheveled, unkempt hair. He said, “Could this man not find anything with which to smooth his hair?” He then saw a man wearing dirty clothes and said, “Could this man not find anything with which to wash his clothes?” Ahmad and al-Nasai transmitted it.
