Burayda reported that the Prophet ﷺ said to a man wearing a copper ring, “Why do I smell the odor of idols from you?” The man threw it away, then came wearing an iron ring. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Why do I see on you the adornment of the people of the Fire?” The man threw it away and asked, “Messenger of Allah, what should I make a ring from?” He replied, “Silver, but do not let it reach a mithqal in weight.” Al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and al-Nasai transmitted it.
