Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ أَنَّ جَدَّهُ عَرفجةَ بن أسعد قُطِعَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلَابِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ وَأَبُو دَاوُد وَالنَّسَائِيّ
Translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn Tarafa reported that his grandfather, Arfaja ibn Asad, had his nose cut off at the battle of al-Kulab. He made a replacement nose from silver, but it began to smell bad, so the Prophet ﷺ instructed him to make one from gold. Al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and al-Nasai transmitted it.
