The Excellent Qualities of him who is pre-eminent among the Messengers - Section 2
Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم: " إِن لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ وُلَاةً مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَإِنَّ وَلِيِّيَ أَبِي وَخَلِيلُ رَبِّي ثُمَّ قَرَأَ: [إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَذَا النَّبِيُّ وَالَّذِينَ آمنُوا وَالله ولي الْمُؤمنِينَ] . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ
Translation
`Abdallah b. Mas`ud reported God's messenger as saying, "Every prophet has friends from among the prophets, and my friend is my father, the friend of my Lord." He then recited, "Those who will be nearest to Abraham are those who followed him, as well' as this prophet and those who believe, and God is the Patron of the believers[*]."*Quran; 3:63Tirmidhi transmitted it.
