‘A’ishah reported: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say, ‘No Prophet falls ill but that he is given the choice between this world and the Hereafter.’ During the illness in which he died, he was overcome by severe hoarseness, and I heard him say, ‘With those upon whom You have bestowed Your favor: the truthful, the Prophets, the martyrs, and the righteous.’ Then I knew that he had been given the choice.
