Mishkat al-Masabih 97
Arabic hadith text
وَعَن أبي خزامة عَن أَبِيه قَالَ سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ رُقًى نَسْتَرْقِيهَا وَدَوَاءً نَتَدَاوَى بِهِ وَتُقَاةً نَتَّقِيهَا هَلْ تَرُدُّ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ: «هِيَ مِنْ قَدَرِ الله» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمد وَالتِّرْمِذِيّ وَابْن مَاجَه
Translation
Abu Khizāma reported from his father, who said: I asked the Messenger of God, ‘What do you think of incantations that we seek, medicines that we use, and precautions that we take—do they avert anything of God’s decree?’ He replied, ‘They are part of God’s decree.’ Aḥmad, al-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Mājah transmitted it.
