Translation

Abu Hurayra reported: The Messenger of God came out to us while we were disputing about the divine decree. He became angry, and his face reddened until it was as though pomegranates had burst on his cheeks. He said, ‘Is this what you were commanded to do, or was I sent to you for this? Those before you perished only when they disputed about this matter. I charge you not to dispute about it.’ Al-Tirmidhi transmitted it and said: ‘It is an uncommon hadith. We know it only through this route, from the report of Ṣāliḥ al-Murrī. He has unusual reports that he alone transmits and that are not corroborated.’ I say: the report that follows supports it. Ibn Mājah narrated something similar in [his book on] the divine decree, from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather.
