Translation

Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allah reported: We went with the Messenger of God to Saʿd ibn Muʿādh when he died. After the Messenger of God prayed over him and he was placed in his grave and the earth leveled over him, the Messenger of God glorified God, and we glorified Him for a long time. Then he said, ‘God is greatest,’ and we said the same. He was asked, ‘Messenger of God, why did you glorify God and then say “God is greatest”?’ He replied, ‘The grave had constricted around this righteous servant until God, mighty and majestic, relieved him.’ Aḥmad transmitted it.
