Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj reported: The Prophet of God arrived while they were pollinating the date palms. He asked, ‘What are you doing?’ They replied, ‘We have been doing this.’ He said, ‘Perhaps it would be better for you if you did not do it.’ So they stopped, and the crop was shaken off. He said: They mentioned this to him, and he said, ‘I am only a human being. When I command you to do something concerning your religion, follow it; but when I command you to do something based on my opinion, I am only a human being.’ Muslim transmitted it.
