Mishkat al-Masabih 151
وَعَن عَائِشَة قَالَتْ: تَلَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْهُ آيَات محكمات) وَقَرَأَ إِلَى: (وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّا أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ) قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " فَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ وَعِنْدَ مُسْلِمٍ: رَأَيْتُمُ الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ فَأُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ سَمَّاهُمُ الله فاحذروهم "
ʿĀʾisha reported that the Messenger of God recited: ‘He is the One who sent down the Book to you; in it are clear verses’—and he recited through: ‘None take heed except people of understanding.’ She said that the Messenger of God said: ‘When you [feminine singular] see those who follow its ambiguous passages, they are the ones God has named; so beware of them.’ In Muslim’s wording: ‘When you [masculine plural] see…’
