Translation

Al-ʿIrbāḍ ibn Sāriya reported: The Messenger of God stood and said, ‘Does any of you, reclining on his couch, imagine that God has forbidden nothing except what is in this Qur’an? By God, I have commanded, exhorted, and forbidden various matters; they are like the Qur’an, or more numerous. God has not permitted you to enter the homes of the People of the Book without permission, to strike their women, or to eat their fruits, once they have given you what they owe.’ Abu Dawud transmitted it. Its chain includes Ashʿath ibn Shuʿba al-Miṣṣīṣī, who has been criticized.
