Translation

Abū Umāma reported that the Messenger of God said: ‘No people stray after having been guided except that they fall into disputation.’ Then the Messenger of God recited this verse: ‘They put it to you only as an argument; indeed, they are a contentious people.’ (Qur’an 43:58.) Aḥmad, al-Tirmidhī, and Ibn Mājah transmitted it.
