Ghudaif ibn al-Harith said: I asked Aisha whether the Messenger of God would perform the major ritual bath at the beginning or the end of the night. She said: Sometimes he bathed at the beginning of the night and sometimes at its end. I said: God is greatest. Praise be to God who has made room in the matter. I asked whether he prayed witr at the beginning or the end of the night. She said: Sometimes he prayed witr at the beginning and sometimes at the end. I said: God is greatest. Praise be to God who has made room in the matter. I asked whether he recited aloud or quietly. She said: Sometimes he recited aloud and sometimes quietly. I said: God is greatest. Praise be to God who has made room in the matter. Abu Dawud transmitted it, and Ibn Majah transmitted the final section.
