Translation

Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of God said: When Friday comes, the angels stand at the mosque door recording people in order of arrival. The one who comes first is like someone who offers a camel in sacrifice; the next, like someone who offers a cow; then a ram, a chicken, and an egg. When the imam comes out, they roll up their scrolls and listen to the remembrance. Al-Bukhari and Muslim transmitted it.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The Arabic word for the first entrant may also be understood as one who comes early; the translation follows that sense. The sacrificial animal is rendered as a camel.

The Arabic term may refer to one who comes early or one who goes out in the midday heat.

Should the term be rendered as one who comes early or preserve the alternative sense?
