Yazid ibn Ruman reported from Salih ibn Khawwat, from a man who prayed the fear prayer with the Messenger of God at Dhat al-Riqa: One group formed ranks with him while another faced the enemy. He prayed one unit with the group beside him, then remained standing while they completed their prayer on their own. They withdrew and took the place of those facing the enemy. The other group came, and he prayed with them the remaining unit of his prayer. Then he remained seated while they completed their prayer on their own, and he gave the salutation with them. Al-Bukhari transmitted it by another chain, from al-Qasim, from Salih ibn Khawwat, from Sahl ibn Abi Hathma, from the Prophet.
