وَعَنْ حَنَشٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يُضَحِّي بِكَبْشَيْنِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: مَا هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ: (إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْصَانِي أَنْ أُضَحِّيَ عَنْهُ فَأَنَا أُضَحِّي عَنْهُ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَرَوَى التِّرْمِذِيُّ نَحْوَهُ

Translation

Hanash said: I saw Ali, may God be pleased with him, offering two rams as sacrifice. I asked him, “What is this?” He replied, “The Messenger of God instructed me to offer a sacrifice on his behalf, so I am offering it on his behalf.”

Abu Dawud transmitted it, and al-Tirmidhi transmitted a similar report.
