Aisha reported a narration similar to that of Ibn Abbas and said: Then he prostrated for a long time. He departed when the sun had cleared, addressed the people, praised and extolled God, and said: The sun and the moon are two signs of God. They do not eclipse because of the death or life of anyone. When you see that, supplicate to God, proclaim His greatness, pray, and give charity.
Then he said: People of Muhammad, by God, no one has a greater sense of protective honor than God when His servant or His female servant commits adultery. People of Muhammad, by God, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much.

The term ghayra carries a religiously sensitive sense of protective jealousy or indignation; a literal English rendering may sound misleading.
Is protective honor the clearest faithful rendering here, or should another established term be preferred?
