Anas reported that when there was a drought, Umar ibn al-Khattab sought rain through al-Baas ibn Abd al-Muttalib. He said: O God, we used to seek access to You through our Prophet, and You would give us rain. Now we seek access to You through the uncle of our Prophet, so give us rain. He said: Then they were given rain.
Al-Bukhari transmitted it.

البعاس
The Arabic gives البعاس, apparently differing from the familiar name al-Abbas and from the English witness. It may be a source-text or transcription error, but it is not silently corrected here.
Can the name be verified against a reliable Arabic edition?
