Mishkat al-Masabih 1063
وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «صَلَاةُ الْمَرْأَةِ فِي بَيْتِهَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهَا فِي حُجْرَتِهَا وَصَلَاتُهَا فِي مَخْدَعِهَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهَا فِي بَيْتِهَا» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد

Ibn Masʿud reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A woman’s prayer in her house is better than her prayer in her room, and her prayer in her private chamber is better than her prayer in her house.” Abu Dawud transmitted it.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic distinguishes bayt (house), ḥujrah (room), and makhdaʿ (private chamber); the English witness renders ḥujrah as “courtyard,” which does not match the Arabic wording.

The English witness says “courtyard,” while the Arabic has ḥujrah, meaning a room or chamber.
Should the English witness’s “courtyard” be corrected to “room” in any later editorial review?
