وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ مُعَاذٌ يُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَيُصَلِّي بِهِمُ الْعِشَاءَ وَهِيَ لَهُ نَافِلَة. أخرجه الشَّافِعِي فِي مُسْنده والطَّحَاوِي وَالدَّارَقُطْنِيّ وَالْبَيْهَقِيّ

He also said: Muadh used to pray the night prayer with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then return to his people and lead them in the night prayer, which was a supererogatory prayer for him. Al-Shafii included it in his Musnad, and it was also transmitted by al-Tahawi, al-Daraqutni, and al-Bayhaqi.
