وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم: «صلوا قبل صَلَاة الْمغرب رَكْعَتَيْنِ صَلُّوا قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ» . قَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ: «لِمَنْ شَاءَ» . كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَهَا النَّاسُ سنة

Abdullah ibn Mughaffal reported that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Pray two rakahs before the sunset prayer. Pray two rakahs before the sunset prayer. On the third time he said: For whoever wishes. This was to prevent people from treating it as a regular Sunnah.
