Hudhayfah said: He saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, praying at night. He said Allahu akbar three times, then said: Possessor of dominion, might, grandeur, and greatness. Then he began his recitation and recited al-Baqarah. He bowed, and his bowing lasted about as long as his standing. While bowing he said: Glory be to my Lord, the Magnificent. Then he raised his head from bowing and stood for about as long as he had bowed, saying: Praise belongs to my Lord. Then he prostrated, and his prostration lasted about as long as his standing. While prostrating he said: Glory be to my Lord, the Most High. Then he raised his head from prostration and sat between the two prostrations for about as long as his prostration. He said: My Lord, forgive me; my Lord, forgive me. He prayed four rakahs, reciting in them al-Baqarah, Aal Imran, al-Nisa, and al-Maidah or al-Anam. Shuabah was uncertain which one it was. Abu Dawud transmitted it.
