Al-Mughīra ibn Shuʿba said: ‘I helped the Prophet perform ablution during the expedition to Tabūk, and he wiped the upper and lower parts of his khuffs.’ Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, and Ibn Mājah transmitted it. Al-Tirmidhī called it a defective report and said: ‘I asked Abū Zurʿa and Muḥammad—meaning al-Bukhārī—about it, and they said it is not sound.’ Abū Dāwūd also weakened it.
