Translation

Abu Hurayrah (may God be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said: ‘There were two men among the Children of Israel who loved one another. One was devoted to worship, while the other would say, “I am a sinner.” The worshipper kept telling him, “Stop doing what you are doing.” He would reply, “Leave me with my Lord.” One day the worshipper found him committing a sin he considered grave and said, “Stop!” The man replied, “Leave me with my Lord. Were you sent as a watcher over me?” The worshipper said, “By God, God will never forgive you or admit you to Paradise.” God sent an angel who took their souls, and they came together before Him. He said to the sinner, “Enter Paradise by My mercy,” and to the other, “Can you prevent My servant from receiving My mercy?” He replied, “No, my Lord.” He said, “Take him to the Fire.”’ Ahmad transmitted it. The Arabic source marks it as not studied by al-Albani.
