Mishkat al-Masabih 2351
Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ (هُوَ أَهْلُ التَّقْوَى وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَة) قَالَ: قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ أَنَا أَهْلٌ أَنْ أُتَّقَى فَمَنِ اتَّقَانِي فَأَنَا أَهْلٌ أَنْ أَغْفِرَ لَهُ ". رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ وَابْن مَاجَه والدارمي
Translation
Anas reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he recited: ‘He is worthy of reverent fear and worthy of forgiveness.’ He said: ‘Your Lord says, “I am worthy to be feared, so whoever fears Me, I am worthy to forgive him.”’ Al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and al-Darimi transmitted it. The Arabic source marks it as not studied by al-Albani.
