Translation

Bilal ibn Yasar ibn Zayd, the Prophet’s freedman, reported: My father told me from my grandfather that he heard the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) say: ‘Whoever says, “I seek forgiveness from God, besides whom there is no deity, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to Him,” will be forgiven, even if he had fled from battle.’ Al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud transmitted it, though Abu Dawud’s version names Hilal ibn Yasar. Al-Tirmidhi said: ‘This is a gharib hadith.’ The Arabic source marks it as not studied by al-Albani.
