Thawban reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “A servant keeps seeking Allah’s pleasure and persists in doing so, until Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says to Gabriel, ‘So-and-so, My servant, is striving to please Me. Indeed, My mercy is upon him.’ Gabriel then says, ‘May Allah’s mercy be upon so-and-so,’ and the bearers of the Throne say it, as do those around them, until the inhabitants of the seven heavens say it. Then it descends for him to the earth.” Reported by Ahmad. The hadith was not studied by al-Albani.
