‘Abd Allah reported that when evening came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say: “We have entered the evening, and sovereignty belongs to Allah; praise belongs to Allah. There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. To Him belong sovereignty and praise, and He has power over all things. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this night and the good within it, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil within it. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from laziness, extreme old age, the afflictions of senility, the trial of this world, and the punishment of the grave.” In the morning he would also say, “We have entered the morning, and sovereignty belongs to Allah.” In one narration: “My Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.” Reported by Muslim. Graded Sahih by al-Albani.
