Translation

Aban ibn ‘Uthman reported: I heard my father say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “No servant says three times each morning and evening, ‘In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or heaven can cause harm; He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing,’ and then anything harms him.” Aban had been afflicted with a degree of paralysis, and a man kept looking at him. Aban said to him, “Why are you staring at me? The hadith is just as I related it to you, but on that day I did not say it, so that Allah’s decree might be carried out upon me.” Reported by al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Abu Dawud. In Abu Dawud’s narration: “No sudden affliction will befall him until morning,” and whoever says it in the morning, “no sudden affliction will befall him until evening.” Graded Sahih by al-Albani.
